Being a Amateur Radio operator it's important to have a solid station to use to make contacts. I personally break down my equipment into 3 types. Fixed station(sometimes known as a base station),a mobile station for use in the truck and a portable station. A portable station being self powered and portable in the sense I can carry on my person. Normally, but not limited to, a HT or handy talkie.
Portable Station
My portable station consists of the great Yaesu VX-8DR HT. It is a transceiver on 6, 2, 1.25 meters and 70cm bands. I'll explain though bands through the blog another day.
